TYDS 2022

About this Summit

Tanzania Youth Digital Summit (TYDS) was created in 2019 and is hosted by Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT) Tanzania and the Information Communications Technology (ICT) Commission. The summit is a national platform to mobilize and inspire underserved and disadvantaged young people with digital literacy, 21st-century skills, and self-confidence to realize their potential in an inclusive digital economy. Our published  TYDS Youth Voices Reports for 2020 and 2021 can be accessed for reference.

Our largest and most inclusive event since inception, TYDS 2021 was co-hosted by the European Union Delegation to Tanzania and saw an unprecedented level of engagement from 2,700 youth across Tanzania Mainland, and Zanzibar, in partnership with the Government of Canada, UNICEF, and Segal Family Foundation.

This year's summit will convene 2,500 youth and stakeholders, with the aim of creating Transformative Youth Digital Spaces. What a delight to be Co-Hosting this theme with UNICEF Tanzania in partnership with UNDP.

With Urgency, Collaboration, and Learning guiding us in our journey, we welcome you to explore and co-create our sub-themes; ICT for Education, ICT for Youth Employment, and ICT for Climate Change.

Young people from all over Tanzania regions will attend hybrid workshops to learn new digital skills and the latest opportunities within the digital economy.

Physical workshops will be held in Arusha, Dar Es Salaam, Dodoma, Iringa, Kagera, Kigoma, Morogoro, Mwanza, Tanga, Tabora, and Zanzibar. All sessions will be broadcasted live on social media to allow young people from other regions to attend virtually and engage with their peers.
